Start of baseline study in Nil Kuthi
During our visit in March, we have been working with our local project team to prepare the baseline studies in Nil Kuthi, Nama Para and Kunder Para. The baseline is the official kick off of the road safety program in Bangladesh and will enable us the measure the impact of our interventions.
The baseline study, for which we received support from the World Bank, consists of both analysis of (near) accidents and speed measurements. As part of the baseline we will use camera recordings to analyse root causes for accidents and finalise the intervention program. It is the first time that such an extensive situation analysis will be done in Bangladesh.
It will take approximately two months to complete the baseline study after which we will start with implementation of the highway interventions and education program.
